I would guess that they assumed that the 19th century would
be all there was, for most dates on guns don't bother to have the "18" on the
beginning of the date. But there can be no mistaking about the date it was
manufactured. This one is in great shape, considering that it is 137 years old
this year. (2015) It's hard to believe that all of the major Cap Gun companies
went out of business except Mattel. But they kept going because of their
diversitymostly through toys like the Barbie Doll and Hot Wheels. But
even they quit making quality Cap Guns like their Shootin' Shell series. And
now they're EXPENSIVE!!!
