Cast Iron - Bang No.72 Single Shot Derringer - 1878

I would guess that they assumed that the 19th century would be all there was, for most dates on guns don't bother to have the "18" on the beginning of the date. But there can be no mistaking about the date it was manufactured. This one is in great shape, considering that it is 137 years old this year. (2015) It's hard to believe that all of the major Cap Gun companies went out of business except Mattel. But they kept going because of their diversity—mostly through toys like the Barbie Doll and Hot Wheels. But even they quit making quality Cap Guns like their Shootin' Shell series. And now they're EXPENSIVE!!!
