 The Leslie-Henry Company, of Wilkes-Barre,
Pennsylvania, was one of the best manufacturers of Toy Cap Guns that there ever
was. They not only made for themselves, but also for major distributors, like
Halco. And they were involved with the "Buzz Henry" guns. In this section, to
the best of our ability, we will feature as many Leslie-Henry Cap Guns as we
can put here. Our readers, I hope will send in photos and pertinent information
about the guns.

This is another example of how
a company like Leslie-Henry would take a regular Cap Gun and add another name
when it might sell more guns.

 Leslie-Henry
Champion

Champion was the name of Gene
Autry's Horse. Therefore, Leslie-Henry, who also made a Gene Autry Cap Gun came
out with a cap pistol dedicated to Gene's horse. This is the more rare "Dummy
Hammer" version.
Why anybody would want to have a Cap Gun that was dedicated to
the horse I don't know. Horses DID carry guns, but they were usually .30-30
rifles and seldom did they fire them.

Here is a very rare version of
the same Cap Gun. The Gold Champion that is a smoker!
 Most of the time
repeater Cap Guns didn't smoke like the ones with the bullets because the
hammer just hit the cap on the roll on the anvil and that was that.

Just
another example of the ever-changing Leslie-Henry Cap Gun. These have the
ellipse in the grips and "WAGON TRAIN" under the faux cylinders. Nice pair for
sure! These photos courtesy of David Welch, Childhood Memorabilia,

Leslie-Henry Wagon Train Flip Up Model

 |
| This
Wagon Train Leslie-Henry Cap Gun is one of the scarcer character marked cap
guns. The cap gun was issued during the original run of the television series
Wagon Train in the 1950's. It has a flip-up type magazine with a latch release
just ahead of the trigger |

Here is a
super Leslie-Henry Roy Rogers 49er Cap Gun. This one is from the 1950-1955 era
and as we can see, comes with an excellent blue box. You will notice that this
box is sealed in plastic for protection. It is probably filled with foam also,
to hold its shape. Good idea!
 Many thanks to
David Denton of The Antique Cowboy for these
photos!
